Halloween #blogtober post 15 – horror fiction podcasts. I love listening to a scary story gently lulling me into a fitful, nightmare filled sleep… Plus I find them really good to work out to! This is more of a wishlist because while they sound so intriging I’ve subscribed to all of them (and have been for sometime), I’ve only actually listened to one of them… Scary, huh?
- No Sleep
My absolute favourite podcast. Not just in this list, but of all time. There are currently 8 series and I’m on series 6 and I’ve been trying to get up to date since I discovered them a year ago. The podcast is actually episodes of 3 or 4 stories (unless you’re a season pass holder), from the No Sleep Reddit board. A selection on narrators take on any different character voices, but there is generally one telling each story so it’s easy to follow. I read the stories on the board, and I’m always blown away by how different the take on them is from the podcast. Terrifying, you will not be disappointed. - Wormwood
As I haven’t listened to this, I’ll just hand you over to the introduction on the website…
“Doctor Xander Crowe was a formidable psychologist until a terrible tragedy sent him spiraling down the dark pathways of the occult. Now, a strange vision leads Doctor Crowe to the hidden town of Wormwood, where shadows lurk in every corner and evil stains the souls of the inhabitants. Welcome to Wormwood.“3. Alice Isn’t Dead
Produced by the people behind the ever so successful Welcome To Night Vale podcast (which should also have been on this list) this sounds promising… According to the website…
“Alice Isn’t Dead – a new serial fiction podcast from the team behind Welcome to Night Vale. A truck driver searches across America for the wife she had long assumed was dead. In the course of her search, she will encounter not-quite-human serial murderers, towns literally lost in time, and a conspiracy that goes way beyond one missing woman.”
This is part one, and is 10 episodes long. Part 2 is due in 2017 so if we start now we can catch up in time!
4. Night Fears
Once of the more mysterious sounding descriptions:
“Night Fears is a Horror Fiction podcast dedicated to bringing you the most terrifying stories you’ll never want to hear. Stories to keep you afraid of the dark.”…How could you not be intrigued?!
5.Sinister Smile:The Horror Fiction Podcast
I only discovered this as I was looking researching for podcasts for this post! I can’t quite figure it out, but there seems to only be 6 episodes, the latest of which is titles “intermission”. My interest is piqued and I think this will be the first one I listen to, just to know whats going on! With regards to the content, according to the website…
“Sinister Smile is a podcast featuring the most terrrifying tales that can be found on the internet narrated by Sir Ayme and his many accomplices. If you’re looking to feel horrified, bewildered, spooked or mortified, this is where you want to be. Featuring stories by new and established authors, we have both new horror literature and fan favorites to grace your ears. Welcome to Sinister Smile.“
Always on the lookout for more scares so if you have any suggestions, send em over!
